Your Trusted Myofunctional Therapist Team

At The Myo Center, we specialize in myofunctional therapy—a targeted program of exercises designed to retrain the muscles of the mouth, face, head, and neck. Our lead myofunctional therapist, Viola Zabolotskiy, is a registered dental hygienist with advanced training in orofacial myofunctional therapy. Since 2018, she has dedicated herself to identifying dysfunctional muscle patterns and restoring optimal oral and airway health through customized, hands-on care.

WHAT IS MYOFUNCTIONAL THERAPY?

Myofunctional therapy (also called orofacial myofunctional therapy) is a specialized form of rehabilitation that focuses on the coordinated function of the facial and oral muscles. It’s similar to physical therapy—but for your mouth, tongue, jaw, and airway .

  • It addresses dysfunctional patterns such as tongue thrusting, mouth breathing, clenching/grinding, improper swallowing, and abnormal chewing.

  • Through structured, progressive exercises, it promotes nasal breathing, appropriate resting tongue posture, correct swallowing patterns, and stronger muscle control.

  • Typical outcomes include improved sleep, clearer speech, reduced TMJ strain, enhanced orthodontic stability, and better overall airway function .
